Mistango Choir Festival

Kids Choir Fundraising for others

  • The Major Minors Children’s Choir have been busy performing across the region this year. Their next concert features choir singing and solos from members of the choir who performed at the Hutt Valley Performing Arts Competitions  in July. The Choir took out the choir category and many of the children won awards individually too. The choir continues to grow with a membership aged 4-14 and more than 25 children involved in the choir.

Later this month the Major Minors perform in Upper Hutt, donations from the concert will go to Hutt Valley Riding for the Disabled (HVRDA). Musical Director Joanne Roelofs says "We wanted to do a charity concert that the money raised would benefit children and young people in our community. One of our choristers has a classmate who gets a tremendous amount of achievement and support  from Riding for the Disabled. This organisation has very similar aims to ours  increasing self-confidence and a sense of achievement so it was a perfect community group for us to work with. The concert programme we have chosen has a variety of songs the kids and adults will love and shows the versatility of our choir and soloists”. HVRDA will also have their Gingerbread Horse biscuit fundraiser for sale at the concert.

Hear the Major Minors Children’s Choir perform their ‘Swinging on a Star’ concert at 2.30pm, Sunday 20 September.Upper Hutt Baptist Church, New Zealand. Entry by donation.
