Melbourne International Singers Festival & Melbourne Eisteddfod - June 2013

  • The School of Hard Knocks Institute is proud to announce the launch of Melbourne International Singers Festival 5 – 10 June 2013 (incorporating Melbourne Eisteddfod June 5-7 2013) Australia's most exciting new Festival for singers of all styles and ages.

     

    “I'm thrilled to announce the launch of Australia's most exciting new singing and choral event in 2013, with a lineup of international and Australian artists, conductors and musicians that will cater for many singers including gospel, a cappella, classical, music theatre, pop and cabaret music" said Dr Jonathon Welch AM, Artistic Director.

     

    Headlining the Melbourne International Singers Festival diverse array of workshops, rehearsals and concerts are award winning ABC recording artists The Idea of North one of the world's finest a cappella ensembles, Dr William Powell and Dr Rosephanye Dunn-Powell two of the finest gospel experts, conductors and published composers from the USA along with Dr Kathleen McGuire, Music Director of the world famous San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus for over a decade, who will lead conducting workshops and conduct the classic choral masterpiece Faure Requiem in Faure in a Day.

     

    Our program will include an exciting and diverse new range of opportunities for singers of all ages that will encompass the opportunity to share their music, experience world class practitioners and perform in the best concert halls and venues in Melbourne including The Edge, Federation Square, Melbourne Recital Centre, St Paul's Cathedral and Melbourne Town Hall to name a few.

     

    In addition to the Melbourne International Singers Festival, a new opportunity for choirs to compete in Melbourne's first Eisteddfod the Melbourne Eisteddfod, on June 5th-7th 2013 with opportunities for Primary, Secondary and Community Choirs to compete in an exciting, supportive, friendly and educational environment at The Edge and Wesley Church.  

     

    Other workshops, masterclasses and performing opportunities will also be open to Music Theatre and Cabaret performers with an announcement in the coming weeks of more inspiring World class artists, musicians and workshop presenters.
