Warm up your vocal cords and shine up your dancing shoes
School of Hard Knocks co-artistic directors Dr Jonathon Welch AM and Dr Kathleen McGuire invite you to Swing! Into Christmas, Saturday 12 December at 4pm at the Melbourne Town Hall with a cast of hundreds.
Publicised as “the most unique and fun Christmas concert in town,” audiences are invited to sing and dance to favourite Christmas songs arranged in swing, jazz and gospel styles. Audience members may choose between premium table seating on the main floor or traditional theatre seating in the balcony. Kathleen said: “Raise your voice and stamp your feet, get up and out of your seat and be in the mix in the middle of the dance floor! Our singers can’t wait to share their joy in singing, dancing and being part of this vibrant, inclusive and supportive community.”
The concert will raise funds for the School of Hard Knocks to assist in providing arts, cultural and wellbeing programs for Melbourne's homeless and most disadvantaged. Jonathon said “The School is the culmination of my dream to expand our programs beyond the Choir of Hard Knocks and to engage the professional arts, education, welfare and volunteer sector to provide industry leading arts courses programs that will build pathways to further education and employment for those experiencing disadvantage. The School of Hard Knocks offers access to the best musicians, artists and opportunities for those in the disadvantaged sector, to not only build confidence and self-esteem, but also to build pathways to further education and employment opportunities"
Jonathon and Kathleen will be joined by a stellar cast including special guests Australia’s Got Talent 2011 finalist, jazz sensation, Liam Burrows, and MC, Mark Holden.
