“SUPERB. Delay in clapping due to not wanting to break the spell … Christmas can come now.” – Audience comment, 2013
Taking place the weekend before Christmas, Albion’s carol concerts have very quickly become a tradition for many. At that time of year, when so many of the words and tunes we hear are so deeply familiar, Albion’s reimaginings – based on the tunes that inspired them, but clothing them with lush harmonies and soaring descants – bring a sparkling freshness to our celebrations. As always, the ten singers explore the beautiful church and surround the audience with sound. Embracing winter, Advent, and Christmas songs old and new, Carols with Albion presents a warm, glowing evening that, in the words of a recent audience member, “takes carols at Christmas to another level – up, that is! Innovative! Brilliant!”
Traditional Christmas refreshments will be on offer, in return for donations. And don’t worry if you haven’t finished your shopping by then, because plenty of copies of our three CDs will be on sale! This includes our new album, yet to be titled, which will contain many of our favourite pieces from the last couple of years. (In the meantime, see www.albionchoir.bandcamp.com for the first two releases.)
