  Dear friends,
  
  50 years ago, in 1968 an International Festival of Academic Choirs in Pardubice came into existence. It has already welcome not only various Czech choirs but also a lot of choirs from 30 foreign countries. Let us thank very much to all of you who have participated in our IFAS festival and helped make its artistic level perfect.

  We are pleased to invite you to bring your choir and celebrate this festival jubilee with nice singing.

  The 25th anniversary Biennial

  of the International Festival of Academic Choirs
  
  IFAS 2018
  
  will be held from the 4^th to 9^th of July 2018

   

  The competition for the Bohuslav Martinů Award is included in the IFAS competitions.

  It is open to all kinds of the choirs (except for children´s choirs).

   

  We recommend you to visit our web page www.ifas.cz where you can find all the
  necessary festival information, including the festival history,
  competition rules, preliminary programme, participation conditions and a list
  of the past festival participants.

   

  COMPETITION CATEGORIES

   

  • A1 - mixed choirs with a required composition (min. 25 singers)
  • A2 - mixed chamber choirs with a required composition (max. 24 singers)
  • A3 - women’s choirs with a required composition
  • B1 - folklore
  • B2 - folklore of choir’s nation
  • C1 - compositions of one style of art music - e.g. Renaissance or Baroque music, sacred music, etc.
  • C2 - jazz, pop, spirituals, gospel
  • BM - Bohuslav Martinů Award

   

   

  Festival is intended for following types of choirs:

   

  IFAS - Categories A1, A2, A3 with chance of participation in Grand Prix

  • academic choirs
  • vocational schools' choirs
  • choirs in which at least 75% of the membership is 18 - 30 years old

   

  Bohuslav Martinů Award - BM

  • all types of choirs (except children choirs)

   

  Other categories – B1, B2, C1, C2

  • all types of choirs (except children choirs)
