International Choir Festival InCanto Mediterraneo

Sing, sing, sing for a celebration!

  • The late Ella Fitzgerald, who was known as one of the best female vocalists of her time, was once quoted as saying: “The only thing better than singing is more singing.” In the USA alone, more than 28.5 million people regularly sing in one of more than 250,000 chorus groups, making choral singing by far the most popular of all the arts-related endeavors in the country. While being part of a choir will provide you with ample chance to show off your vocal skills, there are other opportunities, such as during special celebrations, that you can put your beautiful voice to good use. Weddings, birthday parties, engagements, and graduations all generally rely on some type of musical presence. If you sport some basic party-planning skills you will easily be able to organize a festivity that combines all the typical gaiety with a gratifying musical infusion.

    Celebrate with music

What better way to celebrate the birthday of a special family member or friend than with a party that includes copious amounts of singing and other musical merriment. Karaoke parties are usually a hit with both young and old and it will allow everyone to get in on the fun. Alternatively, pick a music-orientated party theme based on a movie such as Bohemian Rhapsody or Mary Poppins or even a TV show such as Glee, X-Factor, and The Voice. Apart from giving a stellar vocal performance yourself, you can also arrange a number of fun activities such a sing-along’s and musical charades that are bound to be enjoyed by guests of all ages.

Dedicate a special song during a celebration

While it will without a doubt give you great joy to organize an entire celebration around music, it may not always be a viable idea. All hope is not lost though as it is easy to incorporate some singing into just about every type of celebration. For a birthday, for instance, not many things will be able to compete with a birthday wish in the form of a special song dedication that you deliver yourself. Be sure to pick a song that not only has special meaning to the person you are dedicating it to, but that you also feel confident in singing, and deliver it with all the pizazz you can muster.

Every occasion calls for a song

Remember that special dedications are by no means restricted to birthday parties. Weddings, engagements, graduations, and bachelorette parties can all do with a good rendition of a well-loved song or two that either tug at the heartstrings or get the feet tapping. As long as you choose appropriate songs that will resonate well with the guests your efforts are bound to be appreciated.

Music, whether instrumental or vocal, has the ability to make everything better. Even a celebration that is already joyous will become even more enjoyable once it has music added to it.
