An abundance of Local Talent on display at Summer Concert

  • Bridgnorth Choral Society will be presenting a summer evening of song at this year's Summer Concert, consisting of mainly lighter music and several pieces new to the Society's repertoire including a performance of the beautiful ‘Pie Jesu’ from Andrew Lloyd-Webber's ‘Requiem’ in which the Choral Society’s soprano soloist Jayne Davies will be joined by local 10 year old school girl Scarlet Barras, daughter of the Society's accompanist, Sally.

The popular and talented vocal group ‘Encore’ from Oldbury Wells School will also be making a repeat appearance under the inspirational direction of Head of Music Joanne Dangerfield with performances of modern chart pieces by Pink, James Morrison and Nelly Futado.

The Choral Society are also pleased to announce a new departure from the regular concert format this year with the engagement of local operatic tenor soloist Russell Painter. Russell was professionally trained at London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama and his most recent successes have taken him as far afield as France to perform and also include his role as Marco in Hereford Gilbert & Sulivan Society’s performance of ‘the Gondoliers’.

The concert takes place at 7.30pm on Saturday 6th July at Bridgnorth Baptist Church, West Castle Street. Tickets cost £5 and are available from Choral Society and Encore members or ‘That’s Nice’ opposite Costa Coffee just off Bridgnorth High Street.
