As part of our mission, the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir presents opportunities for singers from across the Greater Toronto Area to sing great choral works together under the direction of some of Toronto’s talented conductors
It has been well-reported that singing together helps people and communities (including in the recent Chorus America report “Singing and Psychological Well-being” https://www.chorusamerica.org/singers/singing-and-psychological-well-being). The Toronto Mendelssohn Choir’s popular outreach program, Singsation Saturdays, offers people this very opportunity – to sing great choral music together with choral music lovers from across the City. Each workshop features a different guest conductor.
Singsation Saturdays are open to anyone who loves to sing and between 80 and 120 singers regularly attend, including repeat and new participants, along with some TMC alumni and current TMC choristers.
The TMC offers five regular Singsation Saturday choral workshops throughout the season. And, starting in 2013, the Choir added a special free Culture Days Singsation as part of the nation-wide Culture Days celebrations.
Regular workshops run from 10:30 am to 1 pm., and most take place at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church (Yonge and St. Clair). The $10 fee includes refreshments.
