Choral Inspirations singing workshop with professional chamber choir, Sonoro, hosted by the Music Department at the University of Reading. The event takes place in The Great Hall.
For their Choral Inspirations project, Sonoro have commissioned six composers to each write a work inspired by a ‘choral classic’. The composers are Rebecca Dale, Michael Higgins, Cecilia McDowall, Oliver Tarney, Gareth Treseder and Errollyn Wallen. The new commissions, inspired by the music of Franck, Brahms, Lotti, Elgar, J. S. Bach and Mozart, have all been written at a suitable level for amateur choirs, without being simplistic.
Spend a day with conductor Neil Ferris, professional singers from Sonoro and the University of Reading choirs to sing choral classics and explore their newly-composed partner pieces by some of today’s top composers.
