Tamariki offers a focus on thorough and excellent music education, with singers learning about healthy vocal production, the body-voice connection, and vibrant performance presence as well as a strong emphasis on musical literacy, music theory, and sightsinging skills. As with all our ensembles, Tamariki provides a secure and accepting social environment where all singers feel their importance as members of the group. Most importantly, Tamariki has fun and creates exciting music!
To better address the different needs and abilities of this diverse age range, the choir is now split into two streams:
Tamariki 1 is for singers in Kindergarten and Grade 1. (Singers must be 5 years old by March 1, 2014 in order to register.)
Tamariki 2 is for singers in Grades 2 and 3.
The different streams and rehearsal days will combine their voices when performing for Kokopelli’s enthusiastic audience.
‘Tamariki’ (tah-mah-REE-kee) is the Maori word for ‘children’ -- because nothing goes better together than children and music, after all! less
