Its activities soon expanded and now include a regular concert programme, weddings and services throughout Staffordshire and the West Midlands, and guest appearances at other cathedrals.
The Choir has a versatile repertoire of sacred and secular music ranging from the Renaissance to the contemporary, and it enjoys the challenge of new and experimental writing. Widely acclaimed Sunday morning broadcasts on BBC Radio 4 have raised its profile well beyond the region, as have its two appearances in the BBC Sainsbury's Choir of the Year Competition, several performances in the Lichfield International Festival, and the recordings 'In Every Corner Sing' (Regent REGCD196) & 'Belgian Choral Works' (Regent REGCD241) with the Lichfield Cathedral Choir and the Fine Arts Brass Ensemble.
In 2014-2015, besides its busy schedule of singing for cathedral liturgies (Midnight Mass, Ash Wednesday Eucharist, etc.), the choir will be touring Hungary, performing in the first Prom Praise concert outside of London, singing for several events at the National Memorial Arboretum, and hosting the 2015 Cathedral Voluntary Choirs' Conference.
We are always keen to hear from prospective new members - currently we draw singers from all over Staffordshire, as well as Shropshire, Warwickshire and Birmingham. less
