There are three main concerts during the season, typically consisting of Holiday, Classical and Pops music, each performed twice.
Are you a singer dedicated to the art of choral music? Do you have other musical or singing experience, recent or years ago, and you wish to join a symphonic choral group that will challenge, delight, and satisfy you musically?
Whether your most recent choral singing experience was in school, church choir, or with other professional-level volunteer choral groups, you are likely to find a fit with the Tower Chorale. Our members have experience singing in many local church choirs, notable volunteer and semi-professional choirs or operatic ensembles based in downtown Chicago, and other premier choral groups from cities and communities across the country. A desire to create beautiful music brings all of us together.
We welcome new singers both at the start of the season as well as mid-season. The first two rehearsals ahead of each concert series are Open Rehearsals. At Open Rehearsals, we welcome prospective new singers to get to know us by learning current repertoire with us. This allows prospective singers to get a feel for our sound and level of performance and our director’s style of rehearsal; it also provides our director an opportunity to hear how you blend with and enhance the Chorale and respond to direction. After you have rehearsed with us once or twice, the director will meet with you and other prospective new singers to assess your vocal skills and singing background.
Our members typically are comfortable reading sheet music, matching pitch and rhythm, blending with other voice parts, and taking direction to enhance musical expression.
Weekly rehearsals are held Monday evenings, with additional orchestral/instrumental rehearsals during concert weeks. We rehearse 7:15 – 9:15 pm at the Grand Avenue Community Center in Western Springs. less
