Using a flexible formation, ranging up to 32 singers, Arsys explores all choral repertoire, both a cappella and accompanied, from early music – Renaissance, Baroque, Classical – through Romantic and 20th century music to that of the present day. As an enthusiastic advocate of modern repertoire, Arsys regularly commissions new works by living composers.
Conductor Pierre Cao, very attentive to the historical context of each era, sculpts the text of each work with patience and humanity, giving Arsys its unique sound unanimously acclaimed by professionals and public alike:”The sound of this choir is of incredible homogeneity and clarity: perfect intonation, respect of the vocal line and diction, dynamics, and a particular emphasis on the words, which bestows increased life and meaning on the music.” (Le Monde)
When performing works with instrumental accompaniment, Arsys regularly collaborates with renowned ensembles such as the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Concerto Köln, le Cercle de l’Harmonie, Les Talens Lyriques, the Seville Baroque Orchestra, l’Orchestre des Solistes Européens, the Luxemburg Philharmonic, the,Stavanger Symphonic Orchestra (Norway), l’Ensemble Baroque de Limoges, La Fenice, Zefiro or les Folies Françoises.
Arsys can be found performing throughout Europe: the Zürich Tonhalle, the Concertgebouw in Bruges, Teatro Real in Madrid, Auditori in Girona, the Luxemburg Philharmonie, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and Cité de la Musique in Paris, the Arsenal in Metz and the Dijon Auditorium. The choir is also invited to some of the most prestigious festivals: London, Amsterdam, Seville, Brussels, Ambronay, Chaise-Dieu and les Folles Journées.
Arsys has a rich collection of recordings which spans a wide variety of styles - Baroque, Classical, Modern, Christmas and vocal jazz – and has garnered professional acclaim (Orphée d’Or de l’Académie du disque lyrique 2011).
Strongly committed to educational and training activities, Arsys Bourgogne regularly organizes children’s vocal discovery workshops and master classes for amateur and professional choral conductors, as well as professional guidance for emerging singers and conductors. less
