Two points of note: First, the composition grew out of the feeling that all 4 voices should start on the same note, grow outwards and then come Back to that same note at the end. The rest just seemed to evolve on its own, seemingly guided by some external force. Second, unusually, I have asked choirs (where possible) to sing this without any breaks, via staggered breathing, as I Wanted to highlight the deep conviction underlying the words of the Psalm, as one single thread of deep belief that moves from beginning to end. Why not come along and try a free taster!? Choose from either 27th September or 4th October. Whether complete beginner, shower singer or more experienced singer, this choir welcomes You! There are no auditions and no requirements to read music, You just need to love to sing! This term we will be celebrating the amazing feeling of singing in, and being surrounded by harmony and, especially with the venue we'll be rehearsing in, it's set to be a good one! As ever we'll be singing classic pop and soul songs, perhaps with a curve ball surprise just for fun, no winter blues for us! It was Mr. Bonnie Fonseka, a distinguished Old Boy, who's vision soon came to be a Benedictine tradition, by forming a musical club. This prompted the birth of the first College Choir. The Choir acquired a reputation for top class singing and in addition often invited to perform at important national events such as to perform with other schools when princess Elizabeth visited Ceylon in 1952. Since Mr. Bonnie Fonseka’s retirement there were many dedicated Young musicians who undertook the responsibility and uphill task of training the Choir. Some of them were Mr. Robert Joseph, Mr. Francis De Almeida, Mr. Nicholas Johnpulle, Rev Bro. Augustine and Mr. Ravein George. Mr. Ravein George revived the Choir in 1996 and guided them to reach the height of success as being cited as a Classical Choir. The Choir won the all island singing competition in the year 1999. It was originally formed by Ben Camaso as JCSV Chorale, a name patterned in accordance to the Jaime Cardinal Sin Village Community, which in that time was newly constructed, located at Punta. Sta. Ana, Manila, where the parish is situated. Before, they compose of only girls, singing melody of the songs of the Holy Mass. A year passed, Virgilio Deloso handled the choir, and divided the girls into two voices, the Sopranos and Altos. It was not so long that the group acquired male participants filling up all the voice sections of a chorale. Shortly after, JCSV Chorale was then disbanded to give rise to what they now call the Munting Himig Chorale, having more than 20 god-endearing and angelic-voiced Youth of Punta. These were Chacewater & District Male Choir and Carnon Vale Male Choir. We aim to be the most entertaining male voice choir in the South West and for the City of Truro to be proud of us. The ethos of the choir is to have fun and enjoy singing. Each year we host a visiting choir and also spend a weekend away.
