We Annually we p...  moreCarlow Choral Society Carlow Choral Society is a mixed-voice choir of over 60 members (SATB) directed by Blánaid Murphy, Musical Director of the Palestrina Choir, St. Mary’s ProCathedral Girls Choir, Dublin Bach Singers and RIAM Choir. We Annually we perform two large concerts with professional soloists and orchestral musicians in Carlow, ‘Glory of Christmas’ in the National Concert Hall and annual ‘Christmas Crackers’ family concert in the George Bernard Shaw Theatre, Carlow. We have a remarkable repertoire of many choral works such as Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s St. Mathews & St. John Passion, Verdi’s Requiem, Haydn’s The Creation & Seasons, Brahm’s Requiem & many more. We sing at home & abroad. In November 2011 the choir recorded a Christmas CD. New members are welcome. We rehearse in St. Patrick’s College, Carlow Monday nights from 7.45-10pm. Sus componentes, entre otras actividades de su amplio currículum Musical, cuentan con la pertenencia al CORO Filarmónico de Europa, formación integrada por coralistas de todos los países de la Comunidad Europea. El grupo ha obtenido -desde el momento mismo de su creación- galardones en distintos certámenes: Primer Premio del Concurso de Villancicos de Hermandades del Trabajo (1990), Primer Premio de los Certámenes de Participación Ciudadana del Ayuntamiento de Madrid (1992), Primer Premio del Concurso para Artistas Noveles Pasa la Vida de RTVE (1994) y Primer Premio en el XXVI Concurso de Villancicos de Colmenar de Oreja (2012). This is a true community choir of more than thirty experienced singers representing the professions of music, teaching, engineering, law, civil service, marketing, information technology and journalism. Nearly one-half of the choir's singers are students from across many disciplines of study.
