It was founded in 1932 and belongs to major choral tradition with a great history and universal repertoire. Glorious history of the Choir is connected with the names of the most prominent Ukrainian choral bandleaders of ХХ-ХХІ centuries, such as G.Taranova, O.Min'kivskyi, V. Min'ko, Y.Taranchenko, G.Kulyaba, V. Mal'cev, P.Muravskyi, V.Skoromnyi. Because of high-level artistic traditions and many professional performances, Choir became a treasure of independent Ukraine. At the present time Yuliya Tkach is an artistic director and main bandleader of the Academic Choir of Ukrainian radio. Paul Caruana in 1974 as a...  moreThe Jubilate Deo Choir is the resident Choir at the parish church of Naxxar (Malta) and is mainly responsible to animate the liturgy of the principal feasts of the Catholic Church celebrated in this parish. It was founded by Rev. Paul Caruana in 1974 as a girls’ Choir and sang for the first time at Christmas that same year. In the following months male voices were added and the enlarged Choir sang for the first time in the Good Friday celebrations of 1975. Eventually adult female voices joined in, establishing an SATB Choir. The first big occasion for the Choir came in 1980, performing works by the compatriot prolific composer of sacred music Joseph Fenech (1917-2010). The Jubilate Deo Choir has since performed at the Teatru Manoel on many occasions, took part in the BBC production “Songs of Praise” that was televised worldwide and in 1990 sang during the visit to Malta of Pope John Paul II. In 1985 the Choir became an Oakham House society open to Ryerson students, faculty and...  moreThe Choir was founded in 1984 as a result of the efforts of Marie Dowler of Ryerson's English department and became a success under the direction of Matthew Jaskiewicz. In 1985 the Choir became an Oakham House society open to Ryerson students, faculty and staff. In 1987 membership was opened to the general public. The Choir is currently made up of Ryerson undergraduates and alumni, current and retired faculty members and people from all ages and walks of life in the community. It ranges in size from 60-80 members. A core of long term members makes it possible to maintain high standards and perform a demanding repertoire. Under Matthew's direction, the Choir has performed over 50 concerts and on several occasions performed at Ryerson graduation ceremonies. In 1986 the Choir competed in three categories at the Kiwanis Festival, winning first place in two categories and receiving high marks in all three. Also winning ...  moreIn the World Choir Championships which was held in Graz, Austria between 10th-17th July 2011, Boğaziçi Jazz Choir became the 'WORLD CHAMPION' in Contemporary Music and Folklore categories, and got the 'second prize' in Mixed Choirs category. Also winning 2 more gold medals in 'Grand Prix of Choral Music' the champions competed in, the Choir has come back to Turkey with a total of 5 gold medals. The ensemble is celebrated both nationally and internationally for excellent musical interpretations originating in its quest for the deepest sources of inspiration: from lyrics, through harmony, texture and form, to individual feelings of the conductor and choristers. The Choir was established in 2005 by Bartosz Michałowski, a long-time assistant to Prof. Stefan Stuligrosz, founder of the famous "Poznan Nightingales" Boys´ and Men´s Choir of the Poznan Philharmonic. Conducting experience acquired during numerous concerts with the Poznan Philharmonic and Sinfonia Varsovia orchestras played a crucial role in the establishment of the young artist's own ensemble, which soon found recognition among organizers of prominent competitions and festivals.
