Composed of about forty members, our group presents itself eiTher as a women’s choir, or a men’s choir or mixed choir. Our repertoire is varied and original : Renaissance, classical, traditional or more contemporary rhythms such as jazz, afro-latino, or contemporary songs. We celebrated in 2015 The thirtieth birthday of our association which has a long experience in exchange and sharing around choir singing. We have organized several festivals, masterclasses and various exchanges and thus contributed to The promotion of our region, The «département des Alpes-Maritimes» and to The development of choral singing (see examples below). It has 170 singing members in soprano, alto, tenor and bass sections. Presenting classical choral music of a professional standard in Yorkshire and elsewhere in Britain, including at The BBC Proms and Manchester Arena, The Chorus is broadcast regularly on BBC Radio 3. The Leeds Festival Chorus was first formed in 1858 (The year Queen Victoria opened The Leeds Town Hall) to sing at The first Leeds Musical Festival, and was reformed for each succeeding one. The Chorus became independent in 1985. It celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2008 with a performance of a specially-commissioned work by Judith Bingham - a world premiere. Atlantic Voices is an amateur choir starting its tenth season with a repertoire consisting mainly of Newfoundland, Maritime, and Celtic songs and music. The goals of The choir are: to represent and showcase Newfoundland and Maritime music and culture in The Ottawa area; to provide its members with The opportunity to learn, rehearse, and perform choral compositions; and to offer free of charge, musical entertainment to residents of retirement homes, hospitals etc., via in situ community concerts. Members of Atlantic Voices include singers from The provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and ontario.
