Founded in New York City in 2008 by Artistic Director Vince Peterson, the organization now encompasses: a roster of professional ensemble singers, a volunteer chorus of 40-50 adults and an annual week-long Summer Institute in Brooklyn for composers and conductors. The culture of the organization marries informality, loving support and joyful curiosity, with the expectation of solid and technical musicianship, constant learning and openness toward the unexpected.  less

Psalms 39:24 The year started with bright hope for a promising great year, yet the treat of a deadly virus lingered in our ears. In February, COVID caused some concern in America as people were being warned of the implications the virus could bring when it came from overseas. By March, our government told us we needed to stay home as the virus was deadly to all age groups and almost impossible to avoid. Most necessities, like toilet paper and cleaning products, were gone from the shelves of all stores making people worry how fighting this treat would be possible. Throughout the country, several people offered to help neighbors, friends, and family as they self-quarantined and socially distanced from each, as we were told it was our best defense against the upcoming pandemic. Sin...  moreWhen Fred Reinagel founded The Vail Chorale in 2011, his goal was simple: to create a non-auditioned community chorus that would provide an opportunity for choral music-making on Tucson’s east Side, welcoming singers of all ages and musical skills. Since its inception, The Vail Chorale has been entertaining local audiences with Fall and Spring concerts that feature musical styles for every taste. Performances have taken place at various locations including Empire and Cienega High Schools, the Arizona Senior Academy, and the Del Webb Lodge at Rancho del Lago. Chorale members have included high school students as well as adults of all ages, who have found that the intergenerational experience has added to the fun of singing together. Concert attendees have remarked at the obvious enjoyment and enthusiasm that comes across to the audience. The Vail Chorale is directed by Fred Reinagel, the Chorale’s founder. It’s been beautifully arra...  moreThis is the story of a woman feeling old and weary and dreaming of the past she had, wondering where those good years have gone. Here, our lovely singers have made it into a conversation – a shared experienced between the women. It’s been beautifully arranged by Moira Smiley and Vida, but was written by John Prine, a Chicago folk musician. There are two new singers in this ensemble: Rosi, a deep dark bass, standing back left, and Marie, sitting at the front right with the cowboy hat on. Both singers have been a wonderful addition to our choir. Adele in the rocking chair, Annabelle standing right, and Katherine with baby Erin (who LOVES harmony!) complete the group, all of which you have seen many times in concert! We love the song and hope you do too. With this song, we are raising money for a charity close to our hearts, Dartmoor Search and Rescue Ashburton.
