No membership or previous experience is necessary, although an ability to read music would be an advantage in our sometimes fast-paced rehearsals. Just turn up and pay £10 on the door. Founded in February 2008 in order to bring polished intimate and historical choral music to local communities, VAE regularly performs in Northern CA and has toured abroad in Ireland. Richly themed programs celebrate the elegant beauty of Renaissance motets, tonal color of modern works, and exotic flavor of music from other cultures. VAE relies exclusively on donations at concerts to defray costs. Singers volunteer their time and talents but are not required to pay dues.  less

We rehearse, in excellent facilities provided by Hutchesons' Grammar School, on Monday evenings, Aug - Nov and Jan - Mar; we give two concerts, in Nov and Mar, in an on-site auditorium, with 3-manual digital organ. The auditorium can accommodate 60 singers, up to 30 orchestral players and an audience of around 250 (300 max).
