When Odwa Mvunge return to his birth community in 2012, after completing his Music education studies at Nelson Mandela University, not much has changed. There still was no place in Zolani for the Youth to express themselves in cultural activities that was not offered at School nor in the community. After School the Youth would loiter around without direction. This lead to the formation of the Zolani Youth choir. The basic idea and purpose of the choir is to equip Youth of our community with basic Music skills. The choir consists of 25 scholars from different Schools who are between the ages of 12 and 26 years. These scholars have no professional training or background in formal Music, but have proven to have a passion and love for the art. The choir has a multilingual playlist which extends from Armenian traditional folk songs to modern Armenian or non-Armenian songs. These songs are performed in different ways: - A capella - Accompanied by the piano - Accompanied by the Armenian folk traditional band - Accompanied by a modern contemporary band. Many Armenian Musicians from Armenia enrich the choir's repertoire with their unique and creative works. Every one of them have learned and recorded ind...  moreThe Junior High Students of the Colegio Sembradores de Amistad in San Luis Potosí, Mexico show us that Music is an universal language that brings us together, defeating every obstacle like time and space. Every one of them have learned and recorded individually a part of an original song (Vuela Alto = Fly High). When brought together, this parts sums to a wonderful show of talent and Music. This project was made for the graduation prom by students aged between 13 and 15 years old. They show us that the only thing that matters to achieve anything is take the risk and surrender to your dreams. More than a third of them have never sung to an audience before (including Linda, the soloist). The Music brings us together, it allows us to raise our voice to the universe and with it "Ni la distancia podrá separarnos" (Not even the distance can take us apart).  less
