The poem above is sometimes called “I Am” due to its repetition of The phrase. Was The poem inspired? The Hebrew name for God, YHWH, means “I am” or “I am that I am.” and There does seem to be something magical about The poem, as it was written by a woman who, to our knowledge, had never written a poem before. Mary Elizabeth Frye was an orphan with no formal education. In 1932 she and her husband hosted a young Jewish woman, Margaret Schwarzkopf, who was fleeing The Holocaust. When she received news that her moTher had died in Germany, The heartbroken houseguest told Frye in despair that she had never had The chance to “stand by my moTher’s grave and shed a tear.” Frye found herself composing The poem above on a ripped-off section of a brown paper shopping bag. She said The words “just came to her.” less

The Choir is conducted by Paul Robinson and rehearses every Wednesday at The Gillingham Golf Club at 8pm. The Choir is currently looking for new members; The ability to read music is not essential, however, it is helpful and can be very useful. The Choir welcomes anyone who has a passion for singing. Like most traditional male voice choirs we learn all of our pieces from memory and do not use copies. The choir has a wide-ranging repertoire from West End showstoppers to opera, religious and traditional choral music. The Choir has gained a reputation for doing many concerts for charity and have raised a lot of money over The years for a number of different causes. The Choir has performed twice at The Royal Albert Hall with over one hundred choirs in The Festival of Brass and Voices for cancer research UK. The Choir has made several tours both at home and abroad and has raised thousands of pounds for charity totaling nearly £3000 in The past year alone less

Several months previous, a number of likeminded individuals began to visualise The formation of a Male Choir for The Lower Llynfi Valley, something which this area of The County Borough of Bridgend, South Wales lacked.
Following lengthy discussions with a number of experienced and well respected Choristers, we came up with some basic philosophies.
• Keep The choir to a manageable size
• Take our music to The community-at-large
• Establish ourselves as a quality musical group
• Encourage less experienced Choristers to grow in ability and musicality
• Share our joy in singing
One thing was fundamental, and that was to keep The choir `Ego-Free` Their mantra being ‘Leave your Egos at The door as it’s The music that matters’.
Their desire was to form a group in which lasting friendships would grow and be nurtured, with an aim to bond and enjoy singing, and at The same time, perform to The community, raise money for charity and have lots of pleasure doing so.
