The group includes past and present music students at the University, some of whom also pursue solo careers. Acclaimed for performances and recordings that sparkle with fresh insight and vibrant musicality, The Ebor Singers has earned a reputation as one of the most exciting professional Vocal ensembles in the north of England, specialising in early and contemporary music.

The choir gives and annual Easter and Christmas performance, an annual Summer Concert and European Tour. Their repertoire ranges from Handel’s Zadok the Priest to Karl Jenkin’s The Armed Man. The Choir has performed in many major venues around in Europe, including St Nicolas Church Prague to St Mark’s Venice, and has sung in many commercial concerts including premiere of James Brett’s Book of Dreams and performed for the Queen’s arrival at Bushy Park during her Majesty’s Golden Jubilee, where the choir also deputised for the Opera Babes. The singers in the choir are experienced musicians, many having sung with other choirs and choral societies and many are instrumentalists and instrumental music teachers. Described as ‘a fine body of singers’ by John Packwood in the Bristol Evening Post, they have delighted audiences with their fresh, inspiring interpretations of choral repertory from many centuries. Members of the choir come from many parts of the UK for intensive weekends of music-making, culminating in concerts acclaimed for their invigorating choral sound, clarity of tone and texture, and innovative programming.
