Chantage won the BBC Radio 3 Choir of the Year competition in 2006, recorded live with Elbow at Abbey Road Studios in 2009 and is frequently featured on Classic FM and BBC radio. Chantage performs a wide range of repertoire, programming works traditionally performed by English Chamber choirs alongside lesser known works sourced from foreign choral cultures. Chantage was formed in 1999 by its Musical Director James Davey, and quickly established itself in London as a stylish and energetic young Chamber choir. The 75-member ensemble meets in Brooklyn and is made up of neighbors who range in skill from semi-professional to newbies! Concerts include well known and little-known masterpieces of choral literature from Early Music to Contemporary composers and commissions by Brooklyn musicians. The repertoire consists principally of contemporary music with anglo-saxon origins and from the very best of musical theatre as seen in London's West End or on Broadway in New York.
