The choir has over sixty Singers rehearsing each week and the main focus in rehearsals is preparation for performances. These performances can take the form of concerts and appearances in festivals and other events in the local community.

We rehearse, in excellent facilities provided by Hutchesons' Grammar School, on Monday evenings, Aug - Nov and Jan - Mar; we give two concerts, in Nov and Mar, in an on-site auditorium, with 3-manual digital organ. The auditorium can accommodate 60 Singers, up to 30 orchestral players and an audience of around 250 (300 max).

This well-known setting by Tomas Luis de Victoria (1548-1611) of Popule meus, the lengthy series of chants known as Improperia, or Reproaches, which occur at the liturgical climax of Good Friday, during the special service of the Adoration of the Cross, w... moreThis well-known setting by Tomas Luis de Victoria (1548-1611) of Popule meus, the lengthy series of chants known as Improperia, or Reproaches, which occur at the liturgical climax of Good Friday, during the special service of the Adoration of the Cross, was recorded on Saturday 2nd April 2011 during St Peter's Singers' recital of sacred polyphony for Passiontide and Tenebrae in the beautiful surroundings and acoustic of St Aidan's Parish Church in Leeds.
The Singers are directed by Dr Simon Lindley, Music Director since the choir's foundation in 1977. The plainchant verses are sung by soprano Sarah Kelly, and the solo quartet (positioned remotely from the main choir) comprises soprano Julie Kilburn, alto Lucy Appleyard, tenor Jonathan Morrish and bass Quentin Brown.
