It is made up of boys, girls, women and men from all walks of life and with many levels of musical expertise and experience, who give of their time and talent on an entirely voluntary basis to sing to a professional standard. Membership of the choir currently stands at around thirty-five adults and sixteen to twenty children. The choir’s principal function is to provide the music and help lead the worship at the Cathedral’s two main services every Sunday: Sung Eucharist at 10.30 am and Choral Evensong at 6.30 pm. Services are preceded by a rehearsal, and there is a rehearsal once a week, currently on Thursday evenings. In addition to these important duties, the choir also sings for regular special services, occasional CONcerts, broadcasts regularly on BBC Radio, has appeared on TV, and every year they sing in one of the great British Cathedrals for a weekend, or sometimes a week. We come together as one mega choir for CONcerts and other performances at events. Our aim is to build community through gospel music and so we emphasise the fact that we are a choir for anyone to join, no auditions and nor previous experience is required. If you love to sing...we're the choir for you!  

Chapter 8 was formed in September 2008 and comprises members of leading cathedral choirs and solo performers. Musically, individual members can boast… singing in St Mark’s, Venice; the Duomo, Florence; the Salzburg Festival; performing a vocal recital on a stairlift; recording jingles for local radio and being the first girl chorister to sing for a service in St Paul’s Cathedral, London.  less

No one has to sing by themselves and there is no audition to join. We sing a mixture of traditional and pop songs – something for everyone, and everyone is welcome. The cost is £2 per week and there is no membership fee. Drinks and biscuits are provided.  

We are a medium size choir of about 50 members who perform classical music, mainly baroque, classical and 20th century periods. We give several major CONcerts each year, mostly in Wellington.

Salvacosta was formed in June 2000 and functioned for 16 years raising over £55,000 for various charities. In 2017 a new smaller ensemble evolved from Salvacosta in the form of Muzaria www.muzaria.com focusing on Stage & Screen music.
