Inno per I'Anno Sancto della Misericordia (Hymn for the Holy Year of Mercy) “Misericordes sicut Pater,” is the official Latin theme of the Year of Mercy and translates to “Merciful Like the Father"; by the English Composer Paul Inwood and the text of ...  moreInno per I'Anno Sancto della Misericordia (Hymn for the Holy Year of Mercy) “Misericordes sicut Pater,” is the official Latin theme of the Year of Mercy and translates to “Merciful Like the Father"; by the English Composer Paul Inwood and the text of the hymn in Latin and Italian was written by Jesuit Father Eugenio Costa. . The title is drawn from John 6:36, Misericordes sicut Pater (English: Be Merciful, As Your Father Is). Inwood's composition was the winner in an international competition sponsored by the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization. The hymn has now been released in Italian, French, and English, with a Latin antiphon and refrains. . This video recording by the Golden Voices Choir STACC FUTO was transposed on key G Major. This beautiful male choir arrangement captures in it's very essence the richess of God's divine mercy. That no matter how busy our modern lives are, God's hands are ever present to guide us. It all began with the idea one morning that the "other tune" for Nahum Tate's carol "While shepherds watched" is, of course, the Yorkshire ditty "On Ilkley moor bar t'hat". Well, as the day progressed to afternoon, other tunes got added, resulting in ...  moreIt all began with the idea one morning that the "other tune" for Nahum Tate's carol "While shepherds watched" is, of course, the Yorkshire ditty "On Ilkley moor bar t'hat". Well, as the day progressed to afternoon, other tunes got added, resulting in a curious potpourri for choir and piano. The choir gets to sing "On Ilkla Moor", the Este psalter tune known to all, and also Auld Lang Syne. The second voice, in its madrigalian way, gets a sly English cadence!. Meanwhile, the piano also gets some sly references to "Sing a song of sixpence" and "Scotland the brave".
