A few years later, Kevin F...  moreWhen I was a junior in College, my mother was fighting breast cancer and my way of coping with it was to write a choral piece for her. I wrote “Pour Toi, Mère” (For You, Mother) which premiered at my senior composition recital. A few years later, Kevin Fenton programmed that piece for his Choir at FSU. He shared with me his strong connection with the piece at a time when his sister-in-law, Peggy Fenton was also fighting breast cancer. Sadly, Peggy Fenton lost her fight with cancer in 2009. That same year Kevin contacted me and asked if I would write a piece in her memory for her husband and her two daughters. He shared with me a video of a presentation she did at the Mother’s Day banquet at her church, just a few days before her passing. The title of her presentation was “From Hats to Crown”. She shared stories about her life and the many relationship roles one plays: as a daughter, a sister, as a wife, a mother and a teacher. As she talked about each role she wore a different hat. Invariably with members from 12 to 18 at times, the CdIC was invited to assist at services of SVD priest on ABS-CBN masses and special eucharistic celebration at our parish church of the Holy Spirit in BF Homes at Quezon City. Lately the Choir has also been singing at funeral masses of special Community members who have rendered extraordinary services to the church  less

Bandits ambush others on the road. They get wealth, but they stay in one place. Lovers keep moving, never the same, not for a second! What makes others grieve, they enjoy! When they look angry, don't believe their faces. It's spring lightning, a joke before the rain. They chew thorns thoughtfully along with pasture grass. Gazelle and lioness, having dinner. Love is invisible except here, in us. Sometimes I praise love; sometimes love praises me. Love, a little shell somewhere on the ocean floor, opens its mouth. Although relatively small in number, the ...  moreThe Renaissance Choir is an amateur Choir of very high standard and reputation. The Choir’s repertoire imaginatively balances unaccompanied choral music from the Renaissance period with 19th - 21st century works. Although relatively small in number, the Choir is accomplished in singing music in both double and triple Choir form. Particular specialisms include the works of William Byrd, Thomas Tallis and Tómas Luis da Victoria. The Choir has performed in many prestigious venues in Europe, including Notre-Dame in Paris, Chartres cathedral and Versailles. Events such as the Prague Spring International Festival (Czech Republic) have also featured the Choir. In 2006, in Budapest, the Choir performed Tallis’s towering 40-part motet Spem in Alium, with the internationally renowned Budapest Monteverdi Choir. In 2008 the Choir enjoyed a trip to the Lisbon region and sang in some truly fantastic venues, including Mosteiro dos Jerónimos.  less
