Five classically trained female singers combine their flexible voices and powerful stage presentation in their own unique way. Seemingly effortless and simple, every gesture and every sound used to good effect, adventurous from beginning to end. The singers sang together in the Netherlands Youth Choir. They hit it off so well there that the ambition developed to continue together in female a cappella repertoire; a relatively rare genre very dear to the hearts of all five. The top quality displayed since by Wishful Singing – both aurally and visually – makes the Ensemble unique in the world. The repertoire ranges from modest works from the Renaissance and Baroque eras to swinging versions of golden oldies such as Mister Sandman. It is made up of James Rose (Founder), Sam Robson, Emily Dankworth, Ben Cox, Martynas Vilpisauskas and Lewis Daniel, all young and talented musicians from the Guildhall School of Music. Performing live on stage around London with guest singers such as Jacqui Dankworth, VIVE brings rich, diverse harmonies with a fresh, contemporary sound, taking inspiration from the legendary Take 6 and the Real Group! Their music is mainly original arrangements and compositions and what's more, the focal point is not just pop, fusion, harmony, jazz, spirituals... but a complete synthesis of all of these. The river Shannon is named for the Goddess Sionna, whose myth tells how she sought out the hazelnuts of wisdom, believed to contain éigse, the spirit of inspiration and creativity. Born and raised in Ukrainia dr. Myroslaw Antonowycz conducted the worship services in Culemborg for the reestablished Ukrainian seminar. After the seminarians were graduated, they swarmed out to fulfill their priestly vocation for the Ukrainians all over the world. The now outside the monastery walls well-known seminarian choir fell apart while applications for the singing of liturgies and concerts throughout the Netherlands, kept coming. On the initiative of Msgr. AG Smith, dr. Antonowycz founded the Utrecht Byzantine Choir on February 9, 1951, consisting of only Dutch men, who specialized in singing the liturgy according to the Slavic-Byzantine rite. In cooperation with the Apostolate of the Eastern Churches, the UBK initially only sang liturgies according to the Byzantine Rite.
