Christopher Tin (b. 1976)
Soundtrack - Classical World Fusion
Composed as the theme song for the video game Civilization IV and featured on Tin's album Calling All Dawns, Baba Yetu was the first piece of music composed for a video game to win a Grammy Award. Originally composed for full orchestra, Choir and soloists, it was rearranged for SATB a capella Choir by Tin in 2011. The text is a translation of the Lord's Prayer in Swahili.
Baba yetu, Yetu uliye
Mbinguni yetu, Yetu amina!
Baba yetu, Yteu uliye
Jina lako litukuzwe
Utupe leo chakula chetu
Tunachohitaji utusamehe
Makosa yetu, hey!
Kama nasi tunavyowasamehe
Waliotukosea usitutie
Katika majaribu, lakini
Utuokoe, na yule, muovu e milele!

O schöne Nacht!
Am Himmel märchenhaft
Erglänzt der Mond in seiner ganzen Pracht;
Um ihn der kleinen Sterne liebliche
Genossenschaft.
Es schimmert hell der Tau
Am grünen Halm; mit Macht
Im Fliederbusche schlägt die Nachtigall;
Der Knabe schleicht zu seiner Liebsten sacht -
O schöne Nacht!
