John Rutter received the prestigious European Church Music Prize 2019 for outstanding contributions to church music.

It was recorded on 5th December 2010 in the Harvey Nichols Espresso Bar in Leeds' magnificent Victoria Quarter in the first of St Peter's Singers' now-traditional Sunday evening carol performances there. The choir is directed by Dr Simon Lindley, its Music Director since the Singers' formation in June 1977. Male voice singing is traditio...  moreMevagissey is a small fishing village with a population of approximately 2,000 people. It is situated on the South coast of the County of Cornwall, the area of England protruding into the Atlantic Ocean facing North America. Male voice singing is traditionally very popular in the county, there being 33 federated choirs numbering 1,300 Singers out of a total population of nearly half a million. The choir was formed in 1974 and quickly matured into one of the leading and largest male choirs in Cornwall. It now has over 55 members including several founder members. The choir gives around 25 concerts each year, raising many thousands of pounds for various charities. On the 10th July 2010 they celebrated their 900th public appearance. During a concert tour of Gibraltar in 1979 they performed in the famous St. Michael's Cave. Subsequent tours have been to Holland/Northern Germany, to the Black Forest area of Germany on two occasions and in 1990 the choir had a 14 day tour as guests of the Niagara Wine and Grape ...    less
