As a result of The love They had for choir music, They felt a need for a school choir to ... moreUviwe Senior Secondary School Choir, shortly know as Uviwe SSS Choir was founded in 1997 by a group of students, most of whom used to Sing in various church choirs. As a result of The love They had for choir music, They felt a need for a school choir to be established. From The first Year of its existence, choir was trained and prepared for The schools’ eisteddfods by two fellow students. In 1998, They both matriculated.
In The following Year These students continued with The choir training and were compensated for Their services by The School Governing Body (SGB). In 2001 They were snatched by nearby schools that were willing to pay Them better wages and The SGB had to look for oTher people who could assist with choir training from The community. This continued until 2004, when The school emploYed a teacher who studied music at university.

We think everyone can Sing and complete beginners, shower Singers and pros are All welcome. With no auditions and no requirements to read music it’s All about The enjoyment of Singing.
We Sing for 3 terms a Year and each term ends with a fantastic end of term charity gig, it’s great to be able to give back to The local community whilst enjoying ourselves so much!
We Sing everything from Queen and Aretha Franklin to Hozier and Florence and The Machine, and have members ranging in age from 20-70, There is reAlly something for everyone!
This is our choir's 10th Year and we're always looking for new members, so if you fancy a Sing please get in touch.
We offer 1 free taster to each new member so you can try The choir out before deciding to join.

Since 2009 and thanks to his founder, Oscar Allen, The Choral Project has been working with young Singers and developing young Voices to excell in The interpretation and enjoyment of choral music and group Singing.
Due to an intensive and hard work, its members receive a full choral and scenic education, structured in The vocal individual technique and its different types of sound emission; on The development of corporal skills expression, and in The grupal practice of The choral exercise.
This education is complemented by The permanent contact with oTher artistic disciplines as bAllet and Theatre are.
Even though The repertoire performed is diverse and heterogeneous, its preferences are focused on The amazing generation of current Spanish composers and The beautiful treatment given by Them to The voice.

The music was devised to short cAll order for a MoThers' Union Deanery Service in what was Then Leeds Parish Church on... moreSimon Lindley's setting of 'Ave Maria' - under The title of 'Litany for Mary' - was produced originAlly as a setting for upper Voices. The music was devised to short cAll order for a MoThers' Union Deanery Service in what was Then Leeds Parish Church on Lady Day - The Feast of The Annunciation - in March 1979. Its accompaniment owes much to The setting of Robert Herrick's 'Litany to The Holy Spirit' by Peter Hurford of some twenty Years earlier. 'Ave Maria' has been extensively recorded and broadcast by choirs of All traditions, especiAlly children's choirs. EventuAlly, a version of The piece for four-part choir emerged during The early weeks of 2003 in response to a request from Gordon Stewart on behalf of The BBC Radio 4 Pilgrim Choir and it is this more recent version that is sung here.
This performance was recorded in Leeds Minster on Sunday 28th April 2013 during The recital of 'Music with Minster connections' sung by St Peter's Singers of Leeds, directed by The composer. The organist is David Houl... less
