Founded in 1934, the Victoria Choral Society has played a leading role in Victoria's cultural life, and has performed with every Victoria Symphony conductor since the Symphony’s inception.

They agreed to continue singing together to promote Choral music, and the Victoria Choral Society, at that time called the Victoria Choral Union, was formed. Throughout its long history, the Choir has performed almost every major Choral work in the repertoire.
The Halifax Choral Society has always aimed high and has traditionally performed with first-rate orchestras, soloists and conductors.
Looking through the annals of the Society is to turn back the pages of musical history of the past two centuries.

Our repertoire embraces operatic and lighter music alongside classical Choral works, with orchestra, from Bach to Bernstein, and a wide range of a cappella repertoire, which we have also toured abroad. Our second CD was released in November 2009.
A friendly Choir of 60-70 singers, we give four main local concerts a year and enjoy touring. Since 2002, our concert tours have included Lake Garda, Venice, Umbria, Tuscany, Kraków, Amiens and Ghent. In the UK we have performed at the London Coliseum (2006), Ely Cathedral (2007), the Southbank Centre (2010) and Winchester Cathedral (2011). less
