We are sad that we are currently unable to stage live concerts and engage professional musicians to play with us. These musicians, who are largely self-employed, have been especially hard hit by the Covid-19 restrictions. For our next virtual concert in the Spring we hope to employ some and we are seeking donations to help make that happen. In addition, 50% of your donations will be passed directly to Help Musicians Scotland, a charity providing help, support and opportunities to empower musicians at all stages of their lives. It has evolved into an Ensemble determined to reinvent itself continuously as it develops a sound that is artistically intelligent. In its 14-year history, Novo Concertante Manila has competed and won in several international choral competitions. Among which are the 2nd Choir Olympics in Busan, South Korea(2002), the 1st A Voyage of Songs International Chorale Competition in Genting Highlands, Malaysia (2003) and the 23rd Takarazuka International Chamber Choir Competition in Takarazuka, Japan (2007). In 2009, the choir won the 1st and 2nd Prizes at the 46th Internationaler Chorwettbewerb in Spittalan der Drau, Austria and the 1st Prize at the 55th Certamen International de Habaneras y Polifonia in Torrevieja, Spain. We are based in Oxford and many of our younger Singers have gone on to sing professionally in London. We sing a wide range of classical repertoire, from Gregorian Chant and Renaissance polyphony to contemporary works, many written by John Duggan. We have recorded two discs for The Gift of Music and give concerts in Oxford and London, as well as making regular trips to France and Italy.
