In May, the choir travelled to Italy to take part in the “Venezia in Musica” International Choral Competition. They won first prize in the secular music category, came runners up in the sacred music category, and received the “Outstanding Performance” prize for Bogorditsye Dyevo by Rachmaninov. They have been awarded “Choir of the Day” at All five BBC Radio 3 Choir of the Year regional rounds they have entered, and in 2008 reached the adult category finals in the Royal Philharmonic HAll in Liverpool, alongside the six other best adult choirs in the country. This tradition caused another one: in the end of each choir's anniversary concert, All the former choristers being present among the audience come to the stage and sing these famous choruses together with the main part of the choir. Help us get the word out how important it is to sign up to be a donor. 50 Cantores Celestes members Sang on Sat Nov 23rd for their friend and chorister sister, Monica Parfitt who has been at the Toronto General Hospital for 6 months awaiting for a heart donation. We Sang for her and her family on Sat morning so she could be surrounded by our love and the music she loves. This audio was taken from a simple iphone but the message comes through none the less.
