We have been invited by Ely Cathedral in Cambridgeshire, UK, to sing as "choir in residence" for a week in July 2014, taking over their choir's duties of singing 8 services that week. We are the only Hawai'i choir to belong to the Royal School of Church Music, and we use their adjudication standards to award medals which are internationally recognized by the RSCM. We sing sacred music in English, Latin, and Hawaiian. We are always looking for new choristers. Auditions are year-around, although placement occurs only in fall semester and spring semester. It does not meet on a regular basis, but comes together for short, intensive work periods, culminating in performances, or “projects.” The majority of its musicians are recruited from the metropolitan Washington, DC and Baltimore areas, but some come from as far away as New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. We offer high-quality performances of significant choral, and choral-orchestral music, concentrating especially, but not exclusively, on the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. We supplement our gifts to the community with unique experiences, such as our “Conversation Concerts.” We also offer advanced training opportunities in our specialized choral and choral-orchestral repertoire for young conductors and singers, through our workshops and performances.  less

Under the musical direction of Kevin Fox (UK) and the baton of house conductor Erez Tal, Vocalocity performs mostly original arrangements of a range of cutting-edge rock/pop/jazz music. The singers, all of whom come from a background in modern a cappella, range in age but are mostly around their 20s-30s. After a fruitful year, including 3 full-house concerts and several festivals, working with leading acapella masters such as Line Groth and Eric Bosio, collaborating with leading arrangers, composers and artists and recording for the upcoming Swingle Singers CD, we are looking forward 2015 with a visit to Aarhus Vocal Festival and creating some new recording and video clips of our own.
