It focuses mainly on contemporary Icelandic music, commissioning at least one major work annually. Hljómeyki has represented Iceland in Choral competitions and festivals, and has published 5 CD’s with Icelandic music. In recent years it has frequently collaborated with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. Other recent projects include Schnittke’s Concerto for Choir and Rachmaninov’s Vespers. The University Singers have performed throughout the world, and have sung with a variety of professional orchestras including the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, the Pacific Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra and the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra under the batons of conductors such as Carl St.Clair, John Mauceri, John Williams, and Keith Lockhart. Internationally acclaimed for their exquisite musicianship, they have been invited to perform at conferences organized by the American Choral Directors Association and the Music Educators National Conference. The choir is based near Taunton and stages annual Concerts at Wells Cathedral and King’s College Chapel, Taunton, with the finest nationally and internationally renowned soloists and orchestras, performing innovative and varied programmes of music ranging from medieval through to 21st century.  

The Greenwood Chorale is made up of singers from the greater Greenwood region who enjoy singing Choral music together. We sing both sacred and non-sacred music covering a broad spectrum of music periods.

With increasing anxiety, the priests call on Baal a second time. Dusk approaches. Still no fire. Still no Baal. Things turn from just plain embarrassing to rather desperate for the priests of Baal. Elijah turns more aggressive this time, urging them to mutilate themselves before their god in an effort to gain his attention. The choir is regarded as a leader in the Canadian male choir movement, and acts as mentors and inspiration to choirs across the country. Erick Lichte was appointed Artistic Director in January 2013.  less

Formed by Graham Taylor in 1983 as The New Glasgow Singers, a small group of passionate Choral singers looking to take on some of the less well-known works in the Choral repertoire, it has grown into an organisation that has around 100 members singing a wide range of musical genres but still with the core wish to seek out and perform the less familiar pieces. We perform a regular series of Concerts each year: the details for the current season can be seen here. The range of music includes serious classical works, programmes of Choral classics, West End musical pieces and the lighter popular music included in our annual Christmas Cracker Concert. Our full repertoire can be seen in our list of past Concerts. Some notable highlights have been Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, Berlioz’s Grande Messe des Morts and Mahler’s Eighth Symphony - the Symphony of a Thousand.  less
