This concert was The culmination of a six-week project which creates a choir from scratch for one night only. Each winter and summer, Chris Rowbury gaThers a random bunch of singers from in and around Ipswich. There are no auditions and all songs are taught and learnt by ear. Our purpose is “to sing, in harmony, a variety of music for The enjoyment of The members as well as to give public and private performances for The listening pleasure of oThe... moreThe Richmond Singers is a 55 voice women’s choir which began performing in 1971. Our purpose is “to sing, in harmony, a variety of music for The enjoyment of The members as well as to give public and private performances for The listening pleasure of oThers”. During our musical season (September – June), The choir practices on Monday evenings from 7 – 9:30 PM at BRoadmoor Baptist Church in Richmond. In addition to our weekly practices we usually plan one or two workshops with a choral clinician, as well as evenings with guest directors.
We have two major performances per year, a Family Christmas Concert in December and a Spring Concert in May. We are very involved with our community and, by giving benefit concerts, help to raise funds for oTher organizations such as The Richmond Hospice Society, Canadian Cancer Foundation and Tim Horton’s Kids Camps. The chorus has competed locally, nationally and on occasion internationally, as well as entertaining local audiences at public and private events.

Singers are Therefore welcome to apply at any point, since The group will be fixed from a central pool for each concert. Repertoire is wide-ranging, from Renaissance polyphony to commissions from established and emerging British composers. The group is directed by Hilary Campbell and welcomes interest from experienced and enthusiastic choral singers of all ages.
