An international, nondenominational choir with specialization in sacred classical works and other soul inspiring music which cut across diverse denominations and cultures. We sing in English, Spanish, German, French, Italian and many other local African languages.

We make numerous cathedral visits throughout the year, but also offer occasional sung services to smaller churches without a choir. We also offer fundraising CONcerts for charities, building appeals, etc. and are available to hire for weddings, funerals and other occasions.

The choir welcomes new members at the...  moreThe Gettin’ Higher Choir seeks to embrace and celebrate humanity’s highest aspirations through music, welcoming people of all ages and cultures. We are not associated with any particular religion or spiritual path. The choir welcomes new members at the beginning of each season in September and February. There is no audition, and no vocal experience is required, just a desire to sing in harmony with others. Our aim is to re-integrate singing into the daily routines of life. We sing for the pure joy and pleasure it gives us, in an atmosphere that is fun, relaxed, and accepting. Our repertoire CONsists of both traditional and new songs from many cultures. The majority are sung a cappella (unaccompanied) in 4-part harmony. The choir is divided into three chapters, each practicing the same material on either Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The 75-member auditioned chorus has appeared at Carnegie Hall and has toured in Eastern Europe, Canada, England, China, and Australia. Experienced singers are welcome to audition and join in the months of September and January.

The ensemble strives to achieve the level of singing that enables recording of thematically diverse programmes, CONcert performances in excellent halls and participation in national as well as international music festivals. Our Holiday...  moreThe CONnecticut Master Chorale, founded and directed by Tina Johns Heidrich in 1999, is a premier ensemble of 55 professional-caliber vocalists with a precise blend and balance. We present two performances per season in Western CONnecticut. Our Holiday Prelude CONcerts are accompanied by the CONnecticut Master Chorale Holiday Brass, and our Spring CONcerts are accompanied by the CONnecticut Master Chorale Orchestra. In addition to the regularly scheduled performances, our accomplishments include a Christmas CONcert at the White House, a U.S. premiere performance at Lincoln Center, three Carnegie Hall appearances, as well as CONcerts at West Point, Madison Square Garden, and with the Ridgefield Symphony - all by invitation. We won the annual McDonald’s Gospelfest Competition three years in a row and have appeared on ABC TV. Our recordings have been featured on WMNR Fine Arts Radio in CONnecticut.  less

Called a “mighty fortress of skill” by the Washington Post, the Wartburg Choir is one of three college musical ensembles that tour internationally on a triennial basis. Beyond tours, the choir receives invitations for special appearances in the United States and abroad, most recently to participate in the December 2011 White House Holiday CONcert Series. As part of that trip to Washington, D.C., the choir also sang at the National Cathedral’s Bethlehem Prayer Service, which was simulcast worldwide. In 2006, the choir performed with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra in Prague at the invitation of Maestro Paul Freeman, CNSO music director and chief CONductor, who had attended Wartburg Choir CONcert at Orchestra Hall in Chicago. Hljómeyki has represented Iceland in choral competitions and festivals, and has published 5 CD’s with Icelandic music. In recent years it has frequently collaborated with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. Other recent projects include Schnittke’s CONcerto for Choir and Rachmaninov’s Vespers.
