Supported by some of New York’s finest freelance orchestra players, the Choral Society’s concerts are designed to bring the arts directly to the community through the uniquely inclusive medium of choral singing. The Choral Society is in residence at Grace Church in New York, one of the city’s most beloved landmarks.

The group was formed with some of Brisbane’s best and most experienced ensemble Singers, most of whom sing regularly with other choirs in and around the city and have extensive performing and touring experience both around Australia and internationally. The Singers range across an assortment of careers, from educators to environmental engineers, and from students to musicians. They are drawn together because of their passion for singing and produce an energy in performance that immediately connects with their audience. In programming, Fusion specialises in early and new music – from Jean Mouton and Juan Gutiérrez de Padilla to Cyrillus Kreek, Arvo Pärt, and Henryk Mikolaj Górecki. The ensemble prides itself on delivering an artistic product that combines choral maturity with youthful vibrancy to bring a fresh sound to music that is not often performed in the region.  less

We have won every single competition we have taken part in so far and are looking to improve our game and become better at what we do. We are currently preparing for our own show titled "The Vocal Project" which will feature almost all know genera of music. Well what better way to find out more about us than come listen to us? We sing a variety of music which, in some cases, is arranged by Charles. We rehearse, with a break for chat and refreshment at St Leonards Primary School in Exeter on Wednesday evenings.  

We sing contemporary acappella: unaccompanied close harmony arrangements of jazz, pop, gospel and do-wap classics, including original arrangements by our members.

Estas canciones de cuna se cantaban principalmente para los niños menores de 6 meses, ya que se buscaban en ellos signos de enfermedad y muerte. Estas canciones de cuna han sido una forma de que la madre libere la tensión y el agotamiento. También se cantaban para alentar al niño a ser fuerte, o aunque macabro, posiblemente para decirle al niño cómo la muerte sería mejor para él en algún caso.  less

With a membership of 65-70 musicians from throughout the campus, this ensemble is quickly becoming recognized for its musical excellence. Recent concerts have included Johann Sebastian Bach’s Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden, Samuel Barber’s Reincarnations and Benjamin Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb. Strong sight-reading skills and musicianship are important to membership. This ensemble is directed by Dr. Jonathan Babcock, associate director of choral activities.
