The Choir worked with Grammy© award winning composer Eric Whitacre, Nigel Short, former member of the famous British a capella band King’s Singers, Jo-Micheal Scheibe, the president of American Choral Directors Association and Volker Hempfling, among the most important living conductors of Germany. It was first created by a few friends in 1991, then enlarged over the years. It has been conducted by Stephan Nicolay since 2004. The Choir aims to share quality music and new experiences with the audience. That is why La Sestina often performs with crossover arts on a main theme e.g. French Renaissance chansons in 16th century clothes with an actress, a cappella sacred contemporary music with dancers and video projection, Baroque French music with Chamber orchestra and a lecturer, medieval Spanish music with mediterranean ensemble of lutes and percussions, etc. Also, the Choir aims at supporting humanitarian and social actions by offering one or several concerts each year. During the Choir’s existence, it has taken part in many musical festivals, and proven its quality by winning many first prizes, and has been joined in concert by world renowned soloists and Choirs from Britain and America. Every year, the Choir perform around twenty concerts throughout Cumbria, raising thousands of pounds for charitable organisations and other worthy causes. The services of the Choir are provided entirely free of charge to the organisations they perform for. The group ...  moreFounded by friendship the Choir was conceived in the minds of sisters Ana, Rita, and Cielo Bansuli together with their neighbor, sisters Melvic and Marivic Matalang. It started out with one small group of friends made up of mostly teenagers. The group was created 17th of August 1987 when a group of seminarians from St. Vincent had their apostolate together with the image of Our Lady of Miraculous Medal (name of Medallion was taken) at Metro Heights, Visayas Ave. Culiat, Quezon City and a Choir was needed for the mass. The group started singing acapella during eucharistic celebrations and also singing at San Lorenzo Ruiz Parish every saturday evening mass. From 1988 to 1989, another group of seminarians, which is the Franciscans, lived in the Community for more than a year and help the group in singing. In 1989, the Augustinians had their apostolate and both congregations accompanied the group in singing during masses. Sometimes they hold their practices at the seminary.
