"Kärntner Landesjugendchor" (Carinthian Youth Choir) was founded in 2005 with the ambition of bringing together enthusiastic and talented young singers aged 15-26 from all over the Austrian province of Carinthia.

A piece which celebrates collaboration and the importance of the arts in our lives and in our communities.

The Choir's mission is to nurture Bulgarian talent and instill a love for choral art among young individuals aged 16 to 35. It honors Bulgaria's choral traditions while occasionally embracing contemporary trends in choral performance, employing techniques like body percussion and mise-en-scène to enhance their vocal craft. Founded as Pastoral - female chamber Choir in 1987, nowadays the ensemble carries the name of its originator Irina Stiglich. Тhe Choir's repertoire encompasses (or includes) works by both Bulgarian and international composers, spanning eras from the Renaissance to modern times. They've embarked on concert tours across the country and abroad participating in international choral festivals and competitions. Completed in 1997, the piece was inspired by the MS Estonia disaster of 1994. It won third prize in the European composition competition for cathedral Choirs in 1997. The text of the piece is taken from three sources: the Catholic Requiem Mass, Psalm 107: "They that go down to the sea in ships...", and the report of the disaster from the weekly Latin-language Finnish news service, Nuntii Latini.
