Today it comprises 23 selected singers, Cantilena meaning "lightweight song", deriving from the Latin word for "song" or "melody". Whenever possible, during concerts the members of the choir wear a pearl necklace to represent the significance of the activities pursued: each member of the choir is represented by one of the pearls, with the strand linking them all being the music - the main purpose of so much hard work to achieve artistic quality. LSYC believes that all children are capable of discovering their voice. Our programs provide students in grades 2 through 10 with a creative musical outlet for discovering the joys of teamwork, cultural awareness, self-confidence, self discipline, and unparalleled musical opportunities.
