They have been auditioned and selected from a program of 250 singers and identified as the cream of the crop based on their beauty of vocal tone, MUSICal intelligence, sight reading ability and academic achievement. They are also instrumentalists, actors, athletes, student leaders and ambassadors of LSHS. Most importantly, they are students who are DEDICATED to being the best they can be. As a result of these HIGH standards, Sounds of Summit has developed a reputation in Lee’s Summit and around the nation as one of the elite HIGH school level performing ensembles. We are frequently asked to perform with UMKC’s Conservatory, as well as multiple appearances at the Missouri MUSIC Educators Convention. We are also in HIGH demand with community groups for performances around Christmas time. Diliup had orchestrated the MUSIC ...  moreThe Royal College school song written by late Principal H L Reed has been re-recorded by Kalasuri Diliup Gabadamudalige - an old Royalist, keeping in line with the original piano MUSIC score written by H L Reed himself. Diliup had orchestrated the MUSIC in terms of a classical orchestra and recorded it with the vocals of old Royalist Santhush Weeraman of B&S fame and the Royal College choir. The re-recording of the school song was an initiative taken by the Secretary RCU Manju Ariyaratne on the advice of the RCU Council together with the consent of Prinicipal Upali Gunasekra.  less

In 1989 we began the great tradition of offering students a chance to deepen their exposure and understanding of the choral art through a year-long experience leading up to the celebratory Festival Day. We partner with selected HIGH schools for a year of fun and memorable MUSICal experiences as choir students work collaboratively with their peers from around the Southland. The 2017 Festival culminated in a monumental performance at the awe-inspiring Walt Disney Concert Hall. Choir students from 29 schools joined together to sing as a massive ensemble, experiencing the power of choral MUSIC under the direction of Grant Gershon, Artistic Director of the Los Angeles Master Chorale.  less
