Kornelsen, the Denver pro Chorale is comprised of thirty-six musicians based in the Denver Metropolitan area. The Denver pro Chorale specializes in singing diverse a cappella choral repertoire including contemporary works from around the world. The Denver pro Chorale recently concluded its second season with its first independent concert to a sold out audience at Denver’s Church of the Ascension. Earlier this year, the Denver pro Chorale was invited to sing at the Colorado Music Educator’s Association convention in Colorado Springs. Moving into its third season, the Denver pro Chorale is looking forward to collaborating with the Metropolitan State University and St. Martin’s Chamber Choir in joint concerts in addition to a Christmas concert and a concert at Denver’s Church of the Ascension in the spring of 2015. Since its foundation in 2007, the Bremen based ensemble has been putting its own spin on the world of music, with interpretations that continue to surprise their audiences. Six male solists present the deep yet humorous side of vocal music. Their clarity in sound and expression, the abillity to let music speak for itself, sets them apart. In addition to a subscription concert series in Edmonton, the choir performs regional concerts in surrounding Alberta centres, and runs a touring proGram of choral education for primary and secondary schools. pro Coro has performed at the Toronto International Choral Festival (1994 and 2002), the 1988 Olympic Arts Festival, and Canadian Voices (2003 landmark series of concerts celebrating 50 years of professional choral singing in Canada and R. Murray Schafer’s 70th year). The choir has commissioned dozens of new works, the majority by Canadian composers. The twenty-four voices of pro Coro Canada have been shaped by some of the finest choral conductors in the world, including Gervais, Anders Eby (Sweden), Søren Hansen (Denmark), Agnes Grossmann (Austria), and Richard Sparks (USA).
