This is our first virtual choir, created October-December 2020 on Dharug, Eora and Kuring-gai land. After performing Ola Gjeilo's 'The Ground' in our final concert in 2019, we were preparing it again for our 'Indomitable Spirit' concert in May 2020. Then, Covid-19 arrived. Like many choirs, we kept going online, or outdoors when permitted. This film is a record of our year, made to remind ourselves that joy and connection are still available to us, despite distance and change. In mid-April, 2011, Ola spent 3 days on The Central Washington University Campus for a project in which he joined The choir in recording 3 of his compositions. On this video, Gjeilo accompanies The choir on "The Ground" He is playing a written accompaniment on this video. He created an improvised accompaniment on The oTher two videos of this series. One is on his setting of The "Ubi Caritas" text and The oTher is on his composition, "NorThern Lights", Because of his view that improvising is a wonderful snapshot of artists "at that moment", The project was entitled "In The Moment".
