Fick) is an auditioned SATB Choir of up to 65 voices with a passion for presenting excellent choral music. TBC invites professional musicians, soloists, actors and other arts organizations to join in classical choral repertoire in 3 - 4 concerts per season. TBC organizes and participates in “Messiah for the City” and in many local community events. TBC’s “Choral Scholars Program offers subsidy and training to singers aged 19 to 24. Rehearsals are Wednesdays, 7 to 9:30pm, September to May, usually at Kingston Road United Church. Auditions in September and January; the ability to read music and choral experience are assets. The Choir’s work was interrupted for several years during its members’ academic education, as well as during their participation in different musical projects. The present line-up has been steady since 2006. Their repertoire offers a variety of styles of great difficulty and chromatic richness, and tries to take advantage of the cultural and geographic circumstances which make of the Canary Islands a multicultural place. A remarkable feature of the group is their willingness to innovate within the choral music. Their versatility and the variety of repertoire they face can be seen in the different projects they have taken part in: short operas, official or private events, festivals, and monographic concerts on different subjects. As a part of the historic community of Worcester Cathedral, the Choir has gained a reputation for musical sensitivity and ground breaking performance. The Choir was founded in 1998 by its musical director, Stephen Shellard, in order to draw together a group of high quality singers from the local area to develop a concert repertoire and further enrich the choral tradition of Worcester Cathedral. Aimed mainly at singers in the "young professional" category, it is for people who are looking for a Choir with a difference - a great social atmosphere and a challenging, varied repertoire. An auditioned Choir of around 25 members, Tamesis is a high-standard Choir, capable of singing 8-part repertoire on a few rehearsals and having fun while doing it! We've just recorded our second CD which will be released in Autumn 2012.

This original composition being premiered this afternoon was commissioned by Rainier Chorale “in honor of Ron Bayer, Artistic Director, for his 20 years of dedicated service and leadership.” Written by well-known and respected contemporary composer David ...  moreThis original composition being premiered this afternoon was commissioned by Rainier Chorale “in honor of Ron Bayer, Artistic Director, for his 20 years of dedicated service and leadership.” Written by well-known and respected contemporary composer David Dickau, it hauntingly sets a very thoughtful text by Will Dromgoole. In it, Dromgoole tells the story of an old man who approaches a deep and wide water-filled chasm. He crosses in the evening as he is unafraid, then builds a bridge to span the tide. A fellow pilgrim questions why an old man would build the bridge, as he would surely never pass this way again in his lifetime. The old man lifts his grey head and responds to the questioning traveler that a youth is to follow after him. He too, would need to cross in the twilight dim. The old man answers, “I am building this bridge for him.” The commission process was an interesting and fascinating one in which to be involved.
