The group named DEKOR Chamber Choir is composed of experienced choral singers from various parts of Slovenia, who in The past used to sing in renowned Slovene and some foreign vocal ensembles. Driven by The desire of thorough preparation of quality choral projects, The Choir works under The leadership of Slovene and foreign guest conductors. The Choir prepared Their inaugural concert, entitled In The Beginning, in cooperation with young Finnish conductor Dani Juris The topic of creation coincided not only with The central composition of The concert, Copland’s In The Beginning, but also with The Choir’s first public appearance and presentation of The concept of Their work. Our repertoire has about 80 a capella works (from medieval to contemporary composers), large sacred forms by Haendel, Mozart and Mendellsohn Bartholdy and 40 carols. We have performed at several festivals and international events (Germany, France, Switzerland, Bulgaria). They chose Voyces – a uniting image, powerful in its simplicity, a word with a bit of a twist, reflecting The eclectic and often unusual repertoire of The Choir. In using The archaic spelling – ‘Voyces’ – The Choir acknowledges thousands of years of rich choral tradition whilst establishing itself in The 21st century choral landscape. The Choir is fast making a name for itself premiering works never before heard in Perth or in fact The world. Voyces seeks to be an interactive and involved performing group in The local WA and wider Australian musical community.
