UVC Mass CHOIR

We are made up of 3 different choirs - Mixed Chorus, Treble Choir, and Concert Choir. All of our members are students at Port Huron Northern High School and range from 13-18 years of age. We all share a love of music and create joy through singing together.

The group was set up to perform exciting vocal material at a variety of events, and to give men and women who love singing, the platform to get involved in a fun and sociable musical experience. The Voice Of The Town family has now grown and not only do we have our choir in Newcastle, but we now have choirs in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Birmingham.

Besides its regular concerts in Bogazici University, they also performed in cities such as Ankara, Canakkale, Afyon, Denizli, Izmir, Antalya, Mugla, Sakarya, Kocaeli and reach their voices to people in the country. Some of the significant performances of the choir can be listed as Ankara Polyphonic Choir Festival, Afyon Classical Music Festival, Austrian Consulate Culture Office New Year Concert, Jungend Musiziert Competition Opening Concert, Istanbul International Choir Days (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011) In year 2007 announced as ''Mevlana (Jalāl ad-Dīn Rūmī) Year'' by UNESCO, the choir prepared the repertoire including the works of Mevlana and Yunus Emre. In this context, the choir performed in Musicateneo Festival Opening Concert with the theme called ''Journey to Absence'' and share thoughts, feelings and wishes of historical turkish figures with the audience, in a musical way. Stephen Hatfield on Hard Shoulder: Written to honour the House of Compassion, a Toronto outreach to street people, Hard Shoulder is narrated by the street people themselves. Although there is no explicit language, the reality of life on the streets is still presented in an unvarnished way that hits audiences where they didn't expect to be hit. The struggle of the homeless, and of the people who wish to help them, is presented without platitudes, without sentimentality, and without easy answers, but the final message of the piece is humanitarian with a capital H.  less

The Yakinton Octet is truly a singer's group, consisting of eight friends who work as a democratic group with no professional conductor.
