It has grown to a higher level by achieving numerous titles within the past few years and also recognized as the best Tenor Bass voices from a school choir around the country. (Title gained 2014 onwards). The Choir has performed in National and International level stages (2012 Rome) and hosting many choral events in negombo including the biggest carol service in Negombo since 2007.(Maris Carols). It is trained by Mr. Francis De Almeida (Choral Director) since 2004. This choir has influences some youth choirs including Speranza , etc.... And also the Past Pupils Choir (The Old Maris Choir). Stephen Hatfield on Hard Shoulder: Written to honour the House of Compassion, a Toronto outreach to street people, Hard Shoulder is narrated by the street people themselves. Although there is no explicit language, the reality of life on the streets is still presented in an unvarnished way that hits audiences where they didn't expect to be hit. The struggle of the homeless, and of the people who wish to help them, is presented without platitudes, without sentimentality, and without easy answers, but the final message of the piece is humanitarian with a capital H.  less

Youth Choir contains over 80 Singers, and the total number of Singers meeting each week at the academy is over 180. The Choir is conducted by Paul Robinson and rehearses every Wednesday at the Gillingham Golf Club at 8pm. The Choir is currently looking for new members; the ability to read music is not essential, however, it is helpful and can be very useful. The Choir welcomes anyone who has a passion for singing. Like most traditional male voice choirs we learn all of our pieces from memory and do not use copies. The choir has a wide-ranging repertoire from West End showstoppers to opera, religious and traditional choral music. The Choir has gained a reputation for doing many concerts for charity and have raised a lot of money over the years for a number of different causes. The Choir has performed twice at the Royal Albert Hall with over one hundred choirs in the Festival of Brass and Voices for cancer research UK. The Choir has made several tours both at home and abroad and has raised thousands of pounds for charity totaling nearly £3000 in the past year alone  less
