[poem by Paul Bourget - English version see below]
The leaves unfurled on branches so lightly delicate and soft.
The bells rang out so light and free in the cloudless sky
Rhythmical and fervent a distant call like the anthems of old
Called to mind the pure white lilies on holy altar's sacrifice
Those bells spoke to me of happier times now gone
And in the great wood they seemed to revive
the faded leaves of days long since passed.

performed here by the dwsChorale (multitracking one-man choir)
Lyrics (English translation below)
Gott grüss euch all in einer G’mein,
darzu auch die klein!
So ich ein grüss, die ander nit,
so wär ich kein rechter Singer nit!
Right pleased am I to join this dance, I hope
a beautiful young maiden will give me a garland
Then I will be her own
So I step up here upon a stone
Tender maiden may God greet you
and may God greet all here the same,
be they poor or rich
God greet everyone together here,
even the little ones!
Because if I greet one and not the other,
I would not be a true singer! less
